Godox X3 Flash Trigger Quick Review

I was really excited when Godox released their new flash trigger named X3. It supports multiflash mode, front curtain sync, rear curtain sync and TTL mode. It does have a new interesting feature called TCM, which transfer the TTL settings to Manual — I see how this could be useful for certain scenarios. It also offers High Speed Synch (HSS) for supported flashes. Currently the X3 model is available for Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm and OM system cameras. I like the fact it comes with a small packet only with the essentials: a printed manual, USB-C charging cable and a nice carrying/storage case.
Early impressions
Off camera flash is paramount for my work. But Profoto, Broncolor and other brands aren't readily available as Godox. And I've been using Godox for years with no problems at all with the XPRO II, it's a great trigger, but looking a little outdated by now. The X3 offers a more modern, revamped and minimalist design.
The built quality is really impressive, the OLED touch screen is very responsive and I didn't find it difficult to operate at all. If are like me and don't like touch screens that much in certain situations, you can change the settings via the physical buttons and knob on the side. The easy mounting shoe system is also an upgrade from the previous versions, which is much appreciate.
The X3 have a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Godox claim it can trigger 6000 flashes per charge and it takes 2h to be fully charged. I used it for a few days and didn't have to worry about battery.
Pricing at reasonable US$ 69 I highly recommend the X3 for its easy of use and updated design. Over the years Godox is providing a great range of lightning solutions in various prices points, some more entry level and other more specialized — all offering great value for money. I know it can be a polarizing brand, but I like how they keep improving their products in each new release.
